Maverick Stables is run by the Vogelaar family: Jan Cees and Manita, Mariëlle and Lisa. Horses have been an important part of the family’s life for many years. They are avid horse lovers and have knowledge and experience with riding and training as well as breeding and caring for horses. The name Maverick Stables originated from the family’s previous dairy farm: Maverick Manor. The name Maverick has been retained, not least because of the meaning of the word. Maverick stands for “untamed, independent, different thinking”.
Mariëlle and Lisa are responsible for the daily care of the boarding horses and organize dressage, jumping and eventing competitions and other events. Lisa also does the financial administration. Mariëlle has completed the ORUN instructor training and is authorized to teach. Both also practice equestrian sports themselves. Manita and Jan-Cees are there for the daily management of Maverick Stables. In addition to administrative management, Manita is also responsible for the care of the boarding horses. Maverick Stables employees have completed their First Aid diploma or the Safety and Emergency Response (BHV) training.
Maverick Stables is also affiliated with the branch organization FNRS. FNRS represents the interests of entrepreneurs towards the government, municipalities and other craft institutions. 416 companies are members of the FNRS. These are riding stables, boarding houses, sports and training stables and rearing companies. The star system does not apply to the rearing farms, but it does apply to the other farms. Of the 391 companies that hold a star sign, 41 have 5 stars. Of which Maverick Stables is the only one in Flevoland with 5 stars! For more information about the trade association FNRS you can visit their website: www.fnrs.nl.
Maverick Stables uses green electricity and green gas. Delivered by Greenchoice, Windunie’s energy supplier. Windunie is a cooperative of around 250 Dutch windmill owners who supply what is known as Winduniestroom: energy that is exclusively generated by Dutch windmills. Also due to the three windmills of the Vogelaar family that are located nearby, one of which is in the yard. These mills produce around 6 million KwH, which corresponds to the needs of around 2000 households. Maverick Stables not only produces and uses renewable energy, they also use energy in a sustainable way. The large riding hall is insulated and LED lighting is used in all buildings.
